ACCEDE rejoins the GGLN

The African Centre for Citizenship and Democracy (ACCEDE) has rejoined the GGLN as an associate member following a long hiatus.

According to ACCEDE Director, Prof Lisa Thompson, the ACCEDE is continuing to do local government research so the link to the GGLN, a one of a kind network, is a neccessary one. Also given the Centre's committment to civil society activism and mobilisation.

The ACCEDE was established within the School of Government at the University of the Western Cape in September 2007. ACCEDE serves as an organisational and mobilisation space for students and researchers who are involved in activist and research-based policy networks that highlight a critical examination of the factors and policy environments which support or inhibit the development of a more inclusive citizenship in Africa and  the global South.
