To Commemorate Women’s month, the Centre for Policy Studies (CPS) cordially invites you to a Seminar on 'GENDER JUSTICE AND TRADITIONAL BELIEF SYSTEMS IN AFRICA' Traditions, customs and culture are increasingly clashing with modern notions of human rights and justice in a globalising world, and Africa is not immune from these tensions between respect for culture and traditions on the one hand, and the need for safeguarding human (and in particular women’s) rights as guaranteed through modern legal and constitutional frameworks in democratic societies. Community Law Centre launches Local Government Law of South Africa

The Local Government Project of the Community Law Centre, in association with LexisNexis, launched the Local Government Law of South Africa, a comprehensive new description and critical analysis of local government law. This loose-leaf publication, to be updated annually, was written by two Project members, Nico Steytler and Jaap de Visser and was launched at the Centre for the Book in Cape Town on 29 May 2008.

Local Government and Economic Development Programme Reviving the Entrepreneurial Spirit Fair Share, a unit of School of Government, at the University of the Western Cape is in the process of accepting applications for the Local Economic Development (LED) Programme for 2009. Planact to enhance public participation in Orlando 2010 Legacy Projects

Orlando, a township within Greater Soweto in the City of Johannesburg, is the site for Orlando Stadium, earmarked as a practice stadium during the 2010 World Cup event.
