Planact: Invitation to learning event on Community Based Planning
Planact will be hosting a learning event focusing on Community Based Planning (CBP) on the 22 August 2009. The objective of this learning event is to provide community members and government officials as well as development practitioners with an opportunity to exchange information and to share lessons learnt about implementing CBP. Based on lessons learned, we wish to further explore the gaps that may exist in the successful implementation of CBP to consider ways of enhancing implementation also taking into account context specific elements and issues requiring attention.

We regard this learning event as an opportunity for the different role-players to influence each other’s understanding and implementation of community based planning and related participatory methodologies. In this way, it will also contribute more broadly to municipal practices around improving participatory planning towards addressing development needs more effectively.
The event will be held at the Braamfontein Recreational Centre starting at 9 am to 4 pm.
If you are interested in attending as a GGLN member representative, please contact Tshidi Morotolo at 011-403-6291 or tshidi@planact.org.za as soon as possible (by 7th August latest) in order to make the necessary travel arrangements.
All GGLN memebrs are invited. Logistical arrngements for a limited number of members will be made on a first come first served basis.
