16. Seminar on Municipal-Community Partnerships: Building Pathways Out of Poverty

On Thursday 29 November 2007 the Foundation for Contemporary Research will host a seminar on Municipal-Community Partnerships (MCPS) at Huguenot Hall in Paarl.

The seminar seeks to build on the learning of the MCP Forum, which was launched three years ago. The Forum aimed to do the following:

• foster partnerships and specifically Municipal-Community Partnerships or (MCPs),

• encourage knowledge sharing between NGO/CBO, government and other stakeholders,

• strategise around resource mobilisation for MCPs,

• support existing and potential MCPs,

• advocate for the establishment of MCPs towards poverty alleviation,

• facilitate the documentation of experiences around MCPs by conducting research and disseminating research findings, and

• encourage municipal IDPs with a view to identifying potential MCPs for poverty alleviation.
